"Straight from the Heart" -- A Weekly Online Column
"Like Peggy Noonan at her best. Should win an award." - James Grisham, ABC Radio

I read your blog's stories...I cried, I laughed, I thought, I pondered, I loved more.......you are indeed an amazing writer. Thank you so much for sharing with me. Patricia Sheranian

"Rarely do we see this generation take time to ponder upon the gentle arts, the beauty of God's creations, the magnificence of a human life as a being of infinite worth and intelligence." With thoughts like these, this book is a great reminder for us to step back and look at all we have to be grateful for. The description of Ilfracombe, England made me feel like I was there! Thanks for a beautiful and thought provoking read. My flight to Singapore went by fast while reading this book...and that is not easy to do!

Hyrum Smith, Co-Chairman, Franklin Covey Corp:

"As a Man Thinketh in His Heart is a fascinating continuation of the ideas set forth in James Allen's classic bestseller, As a Man Thinketh. Mr. Pratt takes those principles of thought and adds to it the principles of heart powered thinking. He does it in such a way that the reader is greatly entertained while pondering the power of thought and its relationship to the heart. Whoever reads this will be infused with not only the desire to change for the better, but the belief that positive change is possible."

Lance Andrewsen, International Businessman

"What an awesome story! My attention was riveted to the story so much that I couldn't put it down! I've already started to feel the changes that come from reading something so inspirational! Thank you for writing this and sharing it with me!"

Mary Jean Bentley -- Actress, Film and Music Producer

"James, As a Man Thinketh In His Heart is BRILLIANT! This is a 10+. Everyone who cares about the human spirit and progressing in a positive way should read your book! I laughed, and I cried, and will read it again and again. I will recommend it to all my friends and associates. Congratulations on another winner!"

As a Man Thinketh...In His Heart" is a God-send. For those of us who have enjoyed James Michael Pratt's stories that emphasized character and selflessness, "As a Man Thinketh...In His Heart" builds upon James' great story telling by urging us to go deep and find the real person inside us who holds the seed to personal greatness.

Larry McGarr – Book and Film Reviewer

James takes the reader from looking at their world from a superficial viewpoint to linking both heart and thought to create a powerful force that can radically change your life. Building on James Allen's "As a Man Thinketh," James Pratt weaves a story that is enjoyable and readable in one sitting, but makes you want to stop and meditate on his key points. James is still a master story-teller, but his passion for changing lives comes through clearly in "As a Man Thinketh...In His Heart." It has changed mine. No matter what life throws at us, our hearts can know happiness and purpose, and as James says, it 'goes with us and is our real home'

Carlos Packard CEO, Packard Technologies.

"Except for Og Mandino, I haven't read fiction authors in many years; and so I was surprised when I picked up, As a Man Thinketh In His Heart and couldn't put it down. I read for two straight hours. This is Og Mandino at his best. Life changing! I will be recommending your book to everyone I know."

James R. Ritchie, Chairman Ritchie Enterprises

"James Allen planted the seed and James Pratt 'added upon'. As A Man Thinketh In His Heart gives today's reader an opportunity to think with his heart - while being entertained - a dual exercise not often successfully accomplished by today's writers. Mr. Pratt seems to be making this form of stimulating writing an engaging habit. What's next?"

"Honey... This is really good! Who wrote this?" (Author's wife)

THE CHRIST REPORT

I just loved this story! I think that even if you weren't so much a "person of faith", that you would like this book and it would hopefully inspire you, the way it did me. When I first saw the title of the book, "The Christ Report", I thought it was some religious book of theological mumbo jumbo, but it was a really good story (as are all of James Michael Pratt's works that I have read) and I enjoyed being enveloped in the story-line as I read. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to briefly escape reality and go on a really cool journey! Robert M. Spencer

The Christ Report is a cross between Og Mandino's "The Christ Commission" and "The Greatest Salesman on Earth", and Lee Strobel's "The Case For Christ"; with the love of a man for his wife thrown in. The Christ Report is immensely readable. It's one of those stories you'll sit up late at night to finish and you'll regret closing the book when you're done because you're so caught up in the adventure.

James Michael Pratt again reinforces my faith in his ability to tell a story that will take the reader's focus off their circumstances and raise their eyes over the rim of the rut they find themselves in. Certainly, James is an expert at moral clarity, but he's also a great story teller who draws pictures of people who overcome tremendous obstacles for those they love. In an age where it's easy to give up on someone, where technology allows us to text and email someone without ever having to look them in the eye, it's good to find someone who is not shallow or content to simply let life happen to them.

The purpose of The Christ Report isn't to convince anyone of the reality of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, but to cause us to look deep inside and confront our own dependence upon someone bigger than our circumstances. It is a love story of a man's fight to get back to the wife he loves more than life itself; and a story of forgiveness and mercy. When you sit down to read this book, first clear your mind and open your heart - and it will be filled. Ben Raines

I enjoyed reading this book. It was well written and truly brought to life events as they might have actually happened at the time of Christ's death and resurrection. Though the contents are dealing with things of a deeply religious nature, it is unbiased as James Michael Pratt hoped they would be. A. Linde

With negative headlines blaring all around us, this book brings a much needed message of hope. It is a lovely story of Sam, living in today's world, and Cleopas, living in the time of Jesus, finding out what really matters in life. And then once they find it, changing their lives to actually experience it. The author skillfully weaves an intriguing story around the greatest events that have taken place on this earth--the birth and death of Jesus Christ. Sam and Cleopas will lead you through time with a story that will gladden your heart! Sondra McArthur

I have read many of James Pratt's wonderful novels. I recall a number of years ago when one of the major book reviews declared James the "Master of moral fiction." He continues to earn that title with this remarkable work. Although this book departs from the themes of James' previous novels, it is rich with his highly entertaining and engrossing story-telling style. This book will stimulate your mind and your heart. James accomplishes the extremely difficult task of moving the reader between two completely different worlds and times--ultra modern American life and ancient Jerusalem. He does this so effectively, you'll wonder at times if you are "actually there, 2,000 years ago." Christian or not, this highly engaging story will take your heart and mind to a level of contemplation you may not have experienced before. This book just might change your life! Mark Jensen

"I am an avid reader who lauds outstanding writers (especially you, Nicholas Sparks, Richard Paul Evans, Francine Rivers, and Jan Karon) to my small circle of friends. I do consider you a blessing to readers and humanity as you personify (as your dedication to your uncles expressed) 'love, kindness, and the gentle nature of true manhood.'...While too many authors glorify men of low principles, the men in your books are a tribute to fine men and a rare example to those who are unaware of these qualities...You made an emotional impact of the horror of battle while sparing your readers many gory details...I hope that you will be able to inspire us with many more books. However, if you stop with the three already published, you have made a great contribution to mankind." --Betty Boynton

Robinson military, espionage-action-adventure novels I usually read. Being a former lighthouse technician, and instructor of automated lighthouse maintenance for the Coast Guard, I have a special fondness for lighthouses. I was surprised to find so much 'action' in the story. You did an outstanding job of capturing my interest from cover to cover. I will definitely recommend this book to friends and family. (I can't wait to watch my wife cry through the last chapters.) Keep up the good work." Brian Kelley USCG Retired.

It is so refreshing and I don't know when I've enjoyed a book more.

Mr. Pratt – Just got through reading Ticket Home. An outstanding piece of work. It took me all of two days to finish. It was hard to put down. I am a journalist writing news/sports/features for a small daily newspaper in Arizona. I'll be purchasing your first two books shortly. I am a fan of Nicholas Sparks' work and found through something written that you were compared to books written by him. His latest, The rescue got a little sappy at times, but was good nevertheless. However, Ticket Home is in a league of its own. Thank you for writing such a wonderful book. Sincerely – Marty Shevelove

"Thank you for bringing into my unhappy life many reading hours of escapism into love, romance, and the tragedies of war. I truly hope to see "The Last Valentine" on the big screen one day...There is so much hate and despair everyday, wouldn't it be nice to sink oneself into a movie titled, "The Last Valentine" for two hours." --P. Glass

"Your sense of family, love and devotion are refreshing in a time when everything has become rushed and unfeeling." --Jennie Brown

Dear Mr. Pratt – Your novel The Lighthouse Keeper touched me way deep in my soul. God has blessed you with a wonderful talent and has blessed your readers by allowing us to enjoy that talent. May you have many more years to share many more stories with us. Thank you for your wonderful characters who teach us love, faith, and fellowship. A new fan – Pixie Koon

"I have just completed reading THE LAST VALENTINE. What a heart warming novel! I have read alot of books in my thirty years, but by far, this one has moved me the MOST. I actually traveled back in time and became an "on-looker" to the event as it transpired! I have a new outlook on life and the beauty of what "real" love is all about. --Sincerely, Michelle Radich
